A Plug..

There are a lot of babies being born right now- I feel like so many people are pregnant and due soon! It's such a fun time with growing bumps and fun showers. If you are like me, you probably know someone who is expecting a baby soon. What better way to celebrate the upcoming birth, or new arrival, with a handmade onesie ....made by me!
These onesies are super cute and hand sewn using vintage and recycled fabric. Check out my etsy shop CityBird to see the what I have for sale. If you have seen something on here in the past that isn't in my esty shop, or have a special request, let me know and I can make a personalized order just for you!

'I thank my God every time I remember you, in all my prayers for you I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now... it is right for me to feel this way about you because I have you in my heart..'

This past weekend Chris was in New York/Philadelphia for a CSM board meeting. Of course, I wanted to go too- not so much to Philly, but to Brooklyn. Maybe next time. Charles and I spent the long weekend together and had some fun. I took Friday off since it was MEA and there was no school so no daycare. While I did wish we could have been in Brooklyn too, I was happy to have some time with my favorite two year old. :)

A Baby Shower for Jessica

I had the honor of hosting and co-planning a baby shower for one of my dearest friends, Jessica, last weekend. She is due in November and all of us who know her and Dave are so very excited to meet this little baby.

Rachel, Becky, and I planned this shower for Jessica and if I may say so myself, it turned out lovely.
There was a lot of food. Glorious food.

The spread..

We wanted to get food that we knew Jessica loved so our menu included pumpkin cheesecake, grilled cheese sandwiches with tomato soup shots, peanut butter fudge brownie trifle shots, 'Angie's' kettle corn, and a hot cocoa bar, just to name a few :)

We decided against the usual silly shower games and instead had everyone participate in a craft that would be hung on the wall in their nursery. Not only is it super cute, but it is also something special that Jessica and Dave can have for the baby that was hand made by their friends.
We gathered the letters of the alphabet in various sizes and fonts, and for some we just got frames or blocks so people could take a more creative approach as to how they would create the given letter. For example (and missing from this photo) we got a small round mirror for the letter 'O' and a ruler for the letter 'I', canvas for the 'F' a frame for 'P', and a box lid for the 'S'.  We supplied craft paper, buttons, yarn, fabric, paint etc.. and let each guest decorate a letter, or two or three, for Jessica.

This is what we started with..

Doesn't that look so great?? It's going to look awesome in their nursery, and most importantly, Jessica loved it.

I'm a little sad this picture turned out blurry but I treasure it nonetheless. Good friends celebrating the upcoming birth of Baby Hilden. Congratulations Dave and Jessica! We love you already little baby, and can't wait to meet you.

Thank You Notes

My mom has always emphasized the importance of Thank You notes. A kind gesture to show your gratitude to someone for something they gave to you or did for you. While at times it can seem like a trivial thing, sending a card that expresses your thanks can mean a lot to someone.

This is the purpose of my post today. A public 'thank you note' if you will, to my mom and dad...

Dear Mom and Dad,

Just wanted to take a moment to say how THANKFUL we are for allowing us to use your car for the past two months (almost). We know it has been a bit of an inconvenience on you but we want you to know how much it has meant to us. Being able to get Charles to daycare as well as getting us to the grocery store, friend's houses, and running errands has sure been made easier with the use of your car. We hope to be able to get a car of our own soon and plan to take you out for a fun dinner when we all have our own rides again. Thanks again, for inconveniencing yourselves in order to convenience us, we are so grateful,

Love,
Janet, Chris, & Charles

October 6th

Today is the day you were due in my arms,

but instead you are in the arms of Jesus.

These great arms stretch from heaven to earth

For they hold me too

How sweet

To be together

In the arms of Jesus

The Apple Of My Eye..

..Turns TWO today!

IMG_2070

I love this little man SO much. I am taking the day off so that we can have some special Mama and Charles time. So far? Birthday-pancake-breakfast date, a trip to the library and a stack of books to bring home, a quick lunch with Dada, a trip to Target for a special birthday gift, and now it's nap time.
It's such a beautiful day today- sun is shining and it's in the 80's! In October! In Minnesota! Saying a prayer of thanks to Jesus for giving me this kind of weather for our first fall (and soon to be winter) back in Minnesota. After Chris gets home from work we are going to try and go to French Regional Park to play and see the 'big water'.

I love you Charles. To the moon and back.
